EL DORADO, Kan. (KAKE) –
Ten gaming machines were seized out of two El Dorado businesses on Thursday.
After a two-month investigation, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission were granted search warrants for two businesses in the area.
“They’re not allowed in these establishments. If you want to gamble, you need to go to a casino, where it is legal in the state of Kansas and not in a convenience store or a bar,” said Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet.
One of the search warrants was issued for the True Lies Bar & Grill at 607 North Oil Hill Road. They seized four gambling machines and $4,200.
The other search warrant was issued for the Jump Start Convenience Store at 1631 West Central. They seized six gambling machines and $6,800 from the registers.
Herzet said that other Jump Start stores have been in similar situations. He said there was a case in Douglass in 2015 and another case in Augusta in 2016.
