FAIRFIELD, Calif. (KCRA) — More than 30 computers were seized and two illegal sweepstakes gambling cafes in Fairfield and Vallejo were closed down, police said Friday.
The Fairfield Police Department helped in the investigation to seize 20 illegal gambling computers Tuesday from the Talk N Win, which was subsequently shut down, officers said.
On the same day, the Bureau of Gambling Control closed LM Connexions in Vallejo, where officers found 19 illegal gambling computers, police said.
Both businesses were internet cafes and used sweepstakes-gambling software to create interactive gambling-themed games, according to investigators.
Talk N Win and LM Connexions presented the games as lawful promotional sweepstakes for play, but constituted illegal gambling, officials said.
Talk N Win was shut down last August, but in late June, the Fairfield Police Department learned that it had re-opened in the same location.
No further information has been released.
