At least three people have been arrested in connection to May indictments related to suspected organized crime.
Six people accused of participating in organized crime out of a business on Troup Highway were booked into the Smith County Jail on Monday, according to indictments and arrest records.
David Lam Nguyen, 32; Phuong Anh Tra, 31; and Mydung Thi Nguyen, 30, were indicted in May and arrest Monday on accusations they were involved in an illegal gambling operation. They were arrested by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office.
Luan Ta, Jimmy Tra and Tony Nguyen also were indicted in May, but were not arrested Monday.
The illegal gambling for which the individuals are charged is suspected to have occurred between April and June 2014, according to the indictments.
