SAN ANTONIO — Police have broken up what they’re calling an illegal gambling operation on the South Side.
The business operated under the name “Pleasanton Amusement Gameroom” and was located on Pleasanton Road, not far from Bellaire Elementary School.
Police were tipped off to their operation after getting complaints from neighbors. Investigators went inside the game room undercover and say they found 25 “8-liner machines.” Instead of paying out in cash, they paid out in $5 HEB gift cards. The next time the undercover officer went inside, they were paying out in bags of silver which were apparently worth $5 per bag. When confronted by police, the people in charge claimed they thought that made it legal.
Police arrested three suspects, 73-year-old Alonzo Reyes, 44-year-old Sandra Hernandez, and 30-year-old William Camarillo Jr. They’ve now been charged with “Organized Crime – Gambling.”
